Version 5.0.xx - January 12, 2017

This is the beginning of the changes for 2017. And as usual we started a new major Version number, Version 5.0.

For 5.0 and 5.1 combined, all of  (2017) we made:

Additions: 65

Changes and Tweaks: 35

Fixes: 19

For 5.0 First half of  (2017) we made:

Additions: 40

Changes and Tweaks: 22

Fixes: 9

For 5.1 Second half of  (2017) we made:

Additions: 25

Changes and Tweaks: 13

Fixes: 9

This does not include the many reports and invoice printouts we've added to report manager, and probably some things we added or changed that didn't get documented.

Version 5.0.00 - January 12, 2017

Changed: In the RO Editing Screen you can click on the words 'Date Started' and then you can change the Date Started.

Fixed: If you used Pre-Pay when paying an RO and the Pre-Pay was more than the balance, the payment log was incorrect.

Changed: You can now right click on the Delete Button in the RO for Labor, Parts, or Special so you can delete ALL of the items in that respective file. This helps with those with touch screens.. on a touch screen you hold the button down to get the right click menu.

Changed: RO screen now only shows the Edit Vehicle/Unit Button (at the top) if a vehicle/unit has been selected. It will be available the next time you edit the RO.

Fixed: when printing invoice 16 you can now change the order of what prints first, labor, parts, or other items.

Fixed: program now displays the correct date and time in the bottom right corner of the main screen and changes as the time changes.

Changed: The program now only checks for updates (updates to the expiration date for subscribers) once a day when the program is first run. This really doesn't affect you but wanted to document it here.

Changed: When saving an RO, if the Tag# is blank it will no longer ask you to update the vehicle tag#. This prevents tag#'s from being blank. Also, it will no longer ask you to update the tag# if they are already both the same... because that was just redundant. (Tag# sync must be on)

Changed: When saving an RO the Odometer/Hours will ask to save only if it is different. (Odometer/Hours sync must be on)

Changed: When selecting a unit/vehicle for the RO, the Odometer/Hours from the vehicle will be copied into the RO Start AND End Odometer/Hours. End Odometer/Hours is what gets saved back to the unit/vehicle when saving the RO. (Odometer/Hours Sync must be on)

Added: Button to the left of Tag#. This will update the unit/vehicle manually whether or not sync is on, and even if it is blank.

Added: Buttons to the left of Start ODO/Hours and End ODO/Hours. This lets you manually update the unit/vehicle hours even if they're zero or sync is off. If the ODO/Hours in the unit/vehicle record already match, the button will do nothing.

Added: Security for Profit Reports.

Added: Payment details available to Invoices in Report Manager. (Use Report Manager Invoice 18 as an example how to print the Revised Estimates, Notes, and Payments Line Items.

Fixed: Now Point of Sale will create the Suggested Reorders.

Additions: 4, Changes: 7, Fixes: 4

Version 5.0.01 - February 1, 2017

Fixed: Tag Numbers weren't completely showing in main RO Browse, expanded them to 20 characters.

Changed: Not enough room to show all 20 characters of the Tag# on the RO Screen, so just hover your mouse over the tag# to see the full tag#.

Added: Serial # prints out below part if one exists in the RO Part. Also, if the serial# is related to a master vehicle/unit, the Year, Make, and Model also print. This is great for selling vehicles/units. So far only available in the built-in Invoice 16, but is available to add to any Report Manager Invoice (See Report Manager Invoice 18 for an example).

Fixed: Time Clock check-in check-out procedures would not work if the tech name was more than 12 characters. Changed the Clock names to 20 characters to match the size of the technician names. (This is NOT the labor log, but the Time Clock).

Tweaked: The built-in ToDo List (The invoice that goes to the technician) now prints the Issue if there is one. Also Fixed the Entry fields to print 20 characters instead of just 10. Then tweaked the rest.

Added: Capability for built-in Invoice16 to print X amount of copies right away if you click print on the first Dialog Screen. Company Setup/Printer is where you set the number of copies.

Added: Capability for Report Manager Invoices to print more than one copy. It's a little funky, but it should help. Change the # of copies in the company setup, then when you go to print, it automatically prints first, then goes to the preview where you can just exit out of the preview.

Changed: Turned off the ability for Report Manager Invoices to print in an alternative order, it will now always print in the order of Labor, Parts, Other. This was causing some problems that were fixed by changing the order slider (under Setup/Company Setup/Printer) to Labor, Parts, Special. Now the slider makes no difference for Report Manager Invoices. However, some built in invoices can still be affected by the slider.

Added: Tax Table. The tax table works by Zip/Postal Codes to affect a tax change dependent on the customers Zip/Postal Code. If set to allow (in company setup under Taxes/Charges), and there is a zip/postal code in the tax table that matches the customer, then that record will replace the taxes for that RO. This was designed for companies that have mobile operations and go to different States or Counties where they must track and collect those taxes. You only need to add records for the tax tables you are overriding, otherwise the current tax percentages in the company setup will be the default.

Added: Switch to turn on or off the Tax Tables for Repair Orders (RO's).

Added: Switch to turn on or off the Tax Tables for the Point of Sale.

Additions: 6, Changes: 3, Fixes: 2

Version 5.0.02 - February 17, 2017

Added: Security to the LaborLogger program. If you have users setup for security and your User Level is less than the Security Level for LABORFILTER, then you will be prompted to Login to the LaborLogger.

Added: Login by Tech to the LaborLogger. If you have a lower security level, when you select a technician you will be asked for the name and possibly the password for the technician. This is setup in the Technician Table.

Added: Filter to the Labor Selector by Technician. If you have a lower level, the technician can only see the labor items assigned to them. If you are signed in as a user with a higher level, you can see all of the labor items no matter who they are assigned to. You can also turn on the Filter by tech and only see the labor items for the selected tech, no matter the security level.

Added: The expand and contract buttons at the bottom of the labor select screen will now 'remember' the state they were in last.

Changed: The RO line item can no longer be selected when trying to select a labor item.. well, you can select it but it will do nothing. You must select the actual labor item.

Fixed: The 'wages' from the Tech will now come into the labor log record via the Labor Logger.

Additions: 4, Changes: 1, Fixes: 1

Version 5.0.03 - February 25, 2017

Added: Security to the Main Digital Wrench Program. You can now lock someone completely out of the program. The purpose here is if you only want them to be able to run the Time Clock or the Labor Logger programs.

Added: Notes to each log. Now in the labor logger, if the tech is clocked in to a job, they can put notes for that particular log entry. Once clocked out, the notes will not be available except in the main Digital Wrench program. It shows up as a tab in the log entry.

Added: Notes to the log entries available from the labor item logs which can be accessed from the RO.

Additions: 3, Changes: 0, Fixes: 0

Version 5.0.04 - March 2, 2017

Changed: Techs can no longer edit any logs or labor items directly from the labor logger. You must create a labor item from the RO in Digital Wrench. Once you've selected a labor item in LaborLogger, you can click Clock In to add a log record, and of course still add information to the labor item memo. This was done for security reasons.

Added: Security to the Time Clock. Now, if you have a lower security level, the program will ask you to log into the time clock with your technician Name and possibly the password.

Added: Security to the Time Clock Log out.

Changed: if the Tech is logged in and they try to select another labor job, the Labor Logger will ask them if they want to clock out first. This should help prevent techs from clocking in to two labor jobs at once.

Changed: If the tech is logged in and another tech wants to login to the same labor job, the program will save the notes.

Changed: The words Login and Logout to Clock-In and Clock-out for the Labor Logger.

Added: You can now select a labor item in the Labor Logger by Pressing F2, then type in the labor number, or scan it in with a barcode scanner. It will follow the same security rules depending on your security level. It will only allow you to select a labor item that is in a Work in Progress. If the Tech Filter is on and the Labor Item was assigned to a different tech, it will return a blank labor item.

Added: Labor ID barcode can now print on the ToDo List. That way the Tech can just scan the barcode (in the Labor Logger) for the labor item they are supposed to be working on.

Additions: 4, Changes: 4, Fixes: 0

Version 5.0.05 - March 13, 2017

Changed: When Payments from pre-payments were then again applied to pre-pay, strange things could happen. The Pre-Pay that shows up on the Payment Window will no longer show a Pre-Pay that is more than the balance, even if you have more pre-pay available than the balance.

Additions: 0, Changes: 1, Fixes: 0

Version 5.0.06 - May 3, 2017

Changed: License# field in the RO was only 10 characters, changed it to 18 to match the license# field in the unit/vehicle record, and changed the RO screen display to match.

Fixed: PO# on Invoice 16 was not displaying all 20 characters.

Added: Several Fields for Purchase Orders, including Total Cost, Other Cost, Payment Amount, Last Paid Date, Last Pay Type, and Balance.

Added: Payment Table for Purchase Order. Now you can pay on a PO and the totals will automatically be calculated. This will allow Digital Wrench to track payments to vendors. You can pay on the PO Table, or pay inside the PO.

Change: SendTo buttons have now been upgraded. Now they can send to different CSV formats, one for Excel and one for normal CSV. There is also a formatted XML for Excel files. PDF's now save correctly. Also, you can change the page formatting to manual so if there are too many fields on a page, you can separate them into multiple pages.

Added: Balance Filter to PO Table. This will show all PO's that have a balance.

Added: Date Filter to PO Table. This lets you filter on the Order Date, Expected Date, Completed Date, or Paid Date. The default date is automatically the Order date. Click on the O, E, C or P to select which date to filter on.

Added: SendTo Button to the Purchase Order Table. This allows you to create reports or export from the PO Table using filters.

Added: Location Tab in the Inventory Table. Click on the Location Tab, then Select by Location, select the location and only inventory shows up for that location.

Added: Default Tab for customer lookup. If you are usually looking for customers by the Company tab, you can set the default tab for Company, Last Name, or ID.

Added: Option to print Payments in Invoice 16.

Changed: Invoice 16 will now print Payments if checked in Company Setup/Printer. This needs to be set on each machine on the network.

Changed: Invoice 16 will no longer print the Fax# if there is no Fax#. Makes sense, right?

Added: Option to print Work or Cell phone as 2nd phone on Invoice 16. The first phone always print and is now considered the contact phone.

Added: In customer record you can choose the default contact phone by clicking on the button above the phone number. This will print on Invoice 16 as the first phone.

Added: All master invoices we've made over the years into report manager. They start at vmtinvoice100.rpt to vmtinvoice156.rpt. If you have previously printed or previewed an invoice at the RO screen, that invoice will now print as a test invoice in the report manager. If an invoice begins with VMT, it is considered a master invoice and will not print until it is copied to and invoice. For instance VMTInvoice100.rpt must be copied to Invoice100.rpt. Then in the Company setup under printer, rpt manager invoices, set it to #100.

Added: Copy button in Report manager to copy a master invoice (VMTInvoicennn.rpt) to a regular invoice (invoicennn.rpt).  (nnn is the number).

Changed: The Cash Drawer Screen now has the monthly browse and reports on a different tab. These are only here for backward compatiblity for users that had the program before August of 2013. Also tried to make the buttons look like they're in a column.

Additions: 12, Changes: 5, Fixes: 1

Version 5.0.07 - May 31, 2017

Added: In the import program, a utility to read from 'report' type of files and convert them to csv files for further import.

Changed: Inventory utility program can now change records at 10 times the speed of before using 'Streaming'. This is a checkmark that can be turned on in the Processing Screen. Make sure it is the only Digital Wrench program running anywhere on this computer or the network.

Added: Inventory Utility can now select records by inventory location.

Added: Inventory Utility can now change selected records to a specified location.

Added: Integration to Spader Flat Rates (spader.com/product-category/flat-rates/). These are flat rate labor guides for Marine, Powersports, and RV. The program can import these labor items into the labor list. The import is located in the import/export program.

Additions: 4, Changes: 1, Fixes: 0

Version 5.0.08 - June 10, 2017

Added: New report in Report Manager, under RO Labor Reports. This lets you select just one Technician and a date range.

Fixed: Letter Mail Merge (Leditor) program updated to current customer file allowing Leditor to run.

Added: Phone number search to Customer list. You must click on the ID Tab, and at the top you click inside the entry field to the right of the phone number search button. Type in the phone number and press enter, or click on the phone number search button. If you only type in 7 numbers, the program assumes you are searching for just the number without the area code and will search the right most 7 digits. You can put in dashes or not, it doesn't matter because the program extracts everything but actual numbers for the search. It searches the home, work, and cell phone numbers respectively. The search stops when a number is found.

Added: Locator Viewers to the top of the Customer Browse screen so you can see what you're typing when doing a locate.
